Installation of a brand new identification system for pedestrian walkways at Alcoa Deschambault Aluminium plant

The project is currently underway and is expected to be completed in the coming months. DAWCO is responsible for the installation of a brand new identification system for pedestrian walkways and access doors to the plant. The mandate consists of replacing the painted lines on the floor and the access indicators for existing doors with LED light strips that will be embedded in the concrete. More than 2,500 linear feet of light strips will be installed in various parts of the foundry.

This brand new pedestrian guidance system was subject to a prototype and testing stage in the plant. With tried and tested results, Alcoa decided to move forward with the official installation of the system. Alcoa representatives told us that other plants in the group are already interested in this new technology and are planning on future installations of this kind.

The challenge here relates to the quality of installations which will require precise work down to the last millimetre by DAWCO and its subcontractors.

Part of the project requires engineering services which are covered by the Systemex Automation division.

The project is under the watchful eyes of Raymond Séguin, Project Manager, and Sylvio Tousignant, Superintendant, two long-standing and dedicated members of the DCM family.
