Davie – Resolve Conversion Project - MV Asterix

DCM / DAWCO was mandated by Davie Shipyard to complete electrical and instrumentation work as part of the major conversion of the “Amorito” container ship into an Interim Auxiliary Oil Replenishment (IAOR) Vessel for the Canadian Navy that will be named “Asterix”.

Davie – Resolve Conversion Project - MV Asterix

The new vessel will measure 182.52 m in length and 25 m in height (depth to main deck).

The global conversion scope will include new and improved:
• Accommodation block
• Power generation units
• Replenish at Sea System (RAS)
• Integrated bridge platform
• Integrated communications
• Integrated platform management system
• Swing down thruster
• Cargo cranes
• Helideck

The overall construction scope comprises steel removal, steel fabrication and erection, pipe spool assembly and installation, and over 150 000 meters of cable pulling.

DCM / DAWCO’s portion of the construction scope will include installation work for power generation units, communication systems, and platform management systems. The mandate will also involve extensive cable pulling, and will require the expertise of more than 100 electricians.
