Fortress Paper – Speciality Cellulose
As part of the expansion project for the addition of a 5th digester at the Fortress Paper plant in Thurso, a surface condenser that was removed from service in 2011 had to be restored.

Since June 2017, DAWCO has played an active role in this project. During a pre-operational check, the Fortress Maintenance team discovered that some of the condenser tubes were pierced. DAWCO was first mandated to conduct a full inspection of equipment and to provide different repair scenarios.
A second scope consisted of the complete replacement of 1,656 1 ½’’ Ø tubes. Work was completed over a basis of 40-hour week, on 2 work shifts (day and night). Overall, more than 5,000 hours of work were completed without incident.
